| Boat Design and Build |
|
| Just three boats are presented as examples of the many, many, successful
projects completed by Kevin Johnson Boat Builders Ltd.
Sea Attac, Sea Angel 56 and FineLine. | |
| Sea Attac |
| Sea Attac is a unique trimaran tipped to become the next big thing with
recreational boaties. Designed by Alan Wright, the 5.5 metre craft and was two
years in development and was unveiled early 2009. |
| The design of the Sea Attac incorporates folding side hulls, believed to be
the first of their kind in production in New Zealand. These folding side hulls
enable the trimaran to be transported on a regular trailer and make the boat
easier to store in confined areas. |
| Three wheels being fitted to the central hull means that the boat can be
launched and retrieved on a launching ramp without the aid of a trailer. |
| Another bonus, for users who don't like getting their feet wet, is that the
boat can be boarded before it enters the water. The side hulls extend once the
boat is afloat. |
| The three hulls provide a very soft ride even at high speeds and in choppy
conditions. |
| The Sea Attac is virtually unsinkable and is very economical to run. |

| Sea Angel 56 |
| The Sea Angel 56 was designed by Angelo Lavranos and Kevin Johnson Boat Builders Ltd.
was contracted as builder by Sea Angel Yachts. |
| It is a fast offshore cruiser for a local yachtsman. Built in
wood, grp/epoxy sheathed, the boat has been designed so that it will look after
the crew when the elements are at their toughest. |
| The boat is built to survey and certification by New Zealand, and European authorities. Hull
plating on the Sea Angel 56 is four diagonally laid skins of mahogany ply,
glassed over for ease of maintenance. Internal finishes match those of
similar sized yachts at the top of the market. |
| The Sea Angel 56
incorporates all the equipment for safe and comfortable gulf cruising and ocean
passages, including: genset, dive compressor, air conditioning, washing machine,
watermaker, airconditioning, and all those other things that make a modern yacht
a pleasure to spend a lot of time on. It also carries all the survival equipment
necessary for safety when in places where assistance cannot be expected. The
large cockpit has been designed so that it can be a preferred sleeping area when
the yacht is in the Hauraki Gulf, Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the Caribbean
or the Mediterranean. |
